The firearm and ammunition sale, import, and export industry is an important part of the global economy. The sale of these products has been a major source of revenue for countries around the world for decades. However, in recent years there have been concerns about how well these products are being regulated across borders.

The United States has had a long history of regulating the sale, importation, and exportation of firearms and ammunition. Currently, there are  laws that govern this industry: The Gun Control Act (1968), The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (1993), The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (1996), and The Homeland Security Act (2002).

These laws were created to ensure that only authorized individuals were able to purchase firearms or ammunition from companies within the United States or abroad. They also outline strict guidelines for how these products can be transported across borders as well as whom they can be sold to once they arrive at their final destination.
